AI Robotics Summer Program

Program Highlights

All participating students will receive a Certificate of Completion for attending the entirety of the summer program

AI Robotics Summer Program Overview

What It’s About: Dive into robotics and AI with a fully immersive, hands-on summer program hosted by PolyU and IYOF. Across six packed days, students will explore cutting-edge robotics technology, AI integration, and real-world problem-solving challenges.

What Students Will Learn:

  • How to build and program real robots using ROS and Python.

  • LiDAR mapping, SLAM, and precision motion control techniques.

  • Integrating AI voice commands, emotion sensing, and conversational memory into robots.

  • Working with advanced robotics concepts like dynamic obstacle avoidance and system integration.

  • Team-based problem solving through hackathons and final robot competitions.

  • Presenting solutions and innovations to industry experts.

Why Join:

  • Hands-on learning with university-level robotics tools.

  • Mentorship from top professors and industry leaders.

  • Official certificates and special awards.

  • Visits to Hong Kong Science and Technology Park and PolyU’s Robotics Lab.

Open to students in Grades 10–12 with a basic knowledge of Python and an interest in robotics, engineering, or AI.

Program Breakdown by Day:

  • Day 1: Building the Machine Body — Learn robot structure, assemble components, and start SLAM mapping.

  • Day 2: Robot Motion Control — Master PID tuning, speed challenges, and dynamic obstacle avoidance.

  • Day 3: AI Voice Integration — Explore LLM applications in robotics, including voice commands and emotion lighting.

  • Day 4: System Integration — Build and test multifunctional robots with navigation, interaction, and visual recognition.

  • Day 5: Final Competition Prep — Debug, rehearse, and present robot solutions to experts.

  • Bonus Day: HKSTP Visit — Tour Hong Kong Science and Technology Park and meet industry professionals.
